Prayer time apps: calculation and notification settings

Evaluate a prayer time app by checking location, time zone, calculation method and notification behaviour together. Muslim Mubarak provides these settings and calculates prayer times on the device.

What determines the times?

The app uses coordinates, the local day and the selected method. Methods include Turkey/Diyanet, Muslim World League and ISNA, with Hanafi/Shafi Asr settings. Fajr, Isha and Asr can differ between settings. Selecting Turkey/Diyanet does not imply official affiliation or exact agreement in every district.

Compare two apps fairly

Use the same location, date, time zone, method and Asr setting in both. Record the difference and compare with your local authority’s district timetable. A city-centre location and live GPS coordinates are not necessarily the same input.

Missing adhan notifications: check in this order

  1. Open iPhone Settings > Notifications > Muslim Mubarak and check permission and sounds. 2. Review Focus or Do Not Disturb. 3. Check the app’s prayer reminder settings. 4. Correct location and time zone. 5. Reopen the app and check the next prayer.

Does it work without internet?

The primary calculation runs on the device with a usable location and settings. Initial location lookup, new content downloads and AI services have different connectivity needs. Test the prayer screen and downloaded content in airplane mode before travelling.

What helps support investigate?

Include the date, city or district, displayed time, method, Asr setting and iOS version. Never send your password. A district is usually a better starting point than a precise home address.
